Often times we receive a variety of questions regarding the wiring of your Firewire Led lighting and majority of them can be fixed with a few some simple adjustments. Here at Firewire we pride ourselves on the quality of both our products and customer service so we believe some quick tips for LED wiring will delay your down time and get you on the road or trail dominating the darkness! 

It is important to note that LED lighting is polarity sensitive. With a variety of manufacturers there are variances in the color of the ground and positive wires. On occasion, after installation, you may experience that your lights simply do not work. Majority of the times this problem can be associated with incorrect wiring hookups and reversed polarity. Simply reverse your positive and negative wires on your Firewire Led lighting and this tends to solve the problem. Note it isn't uncommon to have wiring of different colors connecting while still having the correct polarity.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

- What does the gold or silver on the strobe controller mean?

The gold paint means that the red wire is positive. The silver paint means that the black wire is positive. These controllers and lights can not be interchanged. Below you can see an example of what the gold and silver markings look like. It is not uncommon to have wiring of different colors connected while still having the correct polarity for your LED lighting to work. 

- Why wont my LED headlights work?

Some vehicles require a resistor and some vehicles require the polarity reversed. LED lights are polarity sensitive.

- What do I do if my light strip falls off?

New 3M tape can be purchased through Firewire Leds. Please call our office at (855)438-4437 to order.

- What do I do if my wiring harness is not long enough to reach the connector?

All Firewire Led lights can be hardwired providing you make a waterproof connection and do not reverse the polarity.
